Songs from Ilse Weber. An inspirational composer who wrote songs and poetry while she was in Theresienstadt during the Second World War, working as a night nurse in the camp’s children’s infirmary. She was later deported to Auschwitz with the children. Despite her utterly tragic and heartbreaking story, her songs carry this true emotional simplicity, an utter sincerity and soft cry of a broken heart, and the soothing sound of a mother.
This lunchtime recital will commemorate the Holocaust with testimony from a survivor Ernest Simon.
Accompanied by the WORLD HARMONY ORCHESTRA.
Direction: Romain Malan
